Luxury in Bengaluru has never really been about showing off. It is more about knowing where to disappear for an afternoon, which hotel has the best garden, where the cocktails are worth dressing up for and, increasingly, which lobby you would happily spend an hour in even when you are not checking in. From old-school addresses that have been part of the city’s fabric for decades to newer hotels bringing a sharper, more contemporary energy, Bengaluru’s luxury scene has quietly become one of the country’s most interesting.

ITC Windsor brings something completely different to the table. Set on Golf Course Road, its English manor-inspired architecture, wood-panelled interiors, period detailing and Lancelot Garden give it a sense of old-world glamour that feels increasingly rare in the city. JW Marriott Bengaluru, meanwhile, has long been one of those dependable addresses where a business lunch can very easily turn into drinks, dinner and "one last one" at the bar. And then there is Taj West End, tucked away among 20 acres of gardens near Race Course Road, where the whole experience feels wonderfully removed from the pace of the city. Together, these seven hotels offer very different versions of luxury, from grand and understated to social, contemporary and wonderfully old-world. Perhaps that is exactly why Bengaluru does luxury so well. You do not necessarily come here to be seen. Sometimes, you just come here to stay awhile.
